My blog is turning stale soon.
It's late in the night and here I am, feeling all inspired to update you guys (girls) on my job! :)
Whenever I get questions on where I am interning at or what I am doing currently, I tend to stop and think (stare) for a moment. The answer I normally give is that, it is an office job, because even if I do mention the organisation that I am working for, it's very likely that he or she knows nothing about it, as they are not in this industry.
So, going straight to the point, what am I doing over there?
My daily job responsibilities include assisting the executives in managing the casual labour job portal (http://hotelparttimejob.com.sg) and also doing preparation work for events (Eg: Excellence Service Award)

On the previous week, I had to cover the receptionist's duties as she was on leave for the whole week. Initially, I was super reluctant, and I think my fellow colleagues could see that I was actually reluctant to leave my workspace. I was really reluctant because I had to do things that I have never tried before, and these include having to pick up phone calls and attend to any enquiries that the general public have. When I just started the duties, I was so nervous. I literally jump up when the phone rang, and my voice shivered! However, as I begin to get the hang of it, I realised that, picking up phone calls is not that difficult after all. And by the third day or so, I actually enjoyed being a receptionist! This is partly because I get to meet people, attend to guests, lead them up to the meeting rooms, and even attending to couriers who arrived at the desk was a joy for me!
In the midst of the my internship, I have also been given a plenty of learning opportunities. One fine day, I went for a site visit at the Moon Hotel @ 23 Dickson, a new boutique hotel in Singapore. It was an eye-opener for me, to see the facilities and services offered in a boutique hotel. My manager brought me along, in hope that it will benefit my one-month stint at the Hotel Reservations counter in December. I also went to SHATEC Institute with my colleagues for an outreach session to promote our casual labour job portal. Oh, and I actually find the whole exchanging of namecards thing very interesting! A pity I do not have a namecard, haha!
I enjoyed some perks throughout the past one month too. One of it being unintentional, was the fact that I had the chance to meet and interact with a awesomely good-looking mixed-blood guy in the office. Of course, the aftermath of this episode saw me having difficulty in concentrating in the tasks for that day. Yesterday, I also went for a dinner with the whole office at the Recipes by SHATEC! It was meant to be a belated birthday celebration for the staff.

And, another important aspect is that, I am really happy working there! My colleagues are really nice to me, and we get along well. Now, I am at the stage whereby I am able to joke with them, abeit not as daring as I normally am when I am with my friends. And, the sick thing is that, I am actually looking forward to go to work the next day.
I know that my lecturer in school has strongly advised us not to blog or post anything regarding the company. However, I think it's alright for me to do that, since, all I have, is praises for SHA!
Last but not least, I do not wish to over-magnify the goods, and leave the bad episodes out, because there are two sides to everything. However, the "bad" side, being really personal, shall not be mentioned here.
So, ta-dah! I shall complete my ejournal diligently (and reluctantly) tomorrow!
